Into A Dream
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
INTO A DREAM is a 2D adventure, focused on narrative, characters and exploration. You play as John Stevens, who wakes up inside the mind / dreams of a man who is suffering from depression, Luke Williams, and is told that he was sent there to find him, understand his story, and help him to take the first step out to treatment.
You will help John dig through Luke's dreams non-linearly, past and future, where memories are mixed with fantasy and symbolism, meet his close family and friends and unfold the heartbreaking, powerful and emotional journey of his life.
You're his last hope.
Although not with a definite date yet, the game is schedule to release in Q2 of 2020 and it's already in the latest stages of development! If you want to be up to date please follow on Twitter (https://twitter.com/IntoADreamGame) or Discord (discord.gg/eUcVpEU)!
YOU CAN NOW WISHLIST INTO A DREAM ON STEAM @ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1238360/Into_A_Dream/ :D
THE DEMO VERSION IS NOW OUT! :)
IMPORTANT: VSync is ON by default, but it seems to highly decrease performance in some computers where VSync is not needed at all. Mainly if you're on a WINDOWS and are experiencing some slowness, please deactivate VSync! :)
If you tried the demo out and want to say anything about it, either what you found good or bad about the game, what makes the game worth it or what needs to be improved, please do it in our Discord, Twitter (links above) or to intoadreamgame@gmail.com . All feedback is highly appreciated and am eager to listen to it all so I can with it improve the game as a whole!
If for some reason the game is not running properly in your computer, or is somewhat slow or with not a very good performance, please let me know so I can look into it. If possible and you can, please provide also some information about the system you're using, such as OS, RAM, Graphics Card, etc. I sincerely apologize in advance if this happens to some of you, or if any major bug arises. There is still a lot of optimization and perfecting to be done, and I believe that the feedback is going to be vital to mitigate most of them until the release date. Thanks for understanding! :)
Into A Dream has, until now, a planned release for PC and Mac on Steam and the VoxPop Games platform (a new indie platform scheduled to be released in the following months). If you liked what you've seen of the game, and want to be up to date with news, developments, release date, wishlisting, etc, please join us in any of the social media (Twitter, Discord, Facebook, Instagram) through intoadreamgame. I am most active on the first two, however major announcements will be posted in all!
Have a great day and thank you so so much for your support!! :)
NOTE: The version v1.1 of the game is similar to the 1.0, just with a couple of minor bugs corrected. I haven't yet tested it extensively, so v1.0 is safer! If you download and try the v1.1 and have no issues, please let me know in the comment :) Thank you!

Wonderful game with a deep story, absolutely stunning. Highly recommend!
Are there any plans to release the full game onto Itch.io or just the demo ?
I really love the narrative, art style, aesthetics and musical score - just superb.
But i can't shake the feeling this would play out better if a full on visual novel and you ditched the slightly awkward feeling mechanics of gameplay / puzzle sections. They feel clunky compared to the dreamlike relaxing approach to the theme.
Don't get me wrong - these are just my personal thoughts! Wouldn't want anyone put off and missing out on the story :) and will certainly be keeping an eye on this.
Hey SoloShock!
First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to play the demo, for testing it out, for the honest feedback and also for your kind words!
I agree with you, especially on the player movement, regarding jumping, ropes, climbing, etc. I have since the demo made several adjustments to it, but am continue to work on it, as it is slightly awkward. The majority of the game forward relies much (much) less of movement-based mechanics or puzzles.
I am scrapping down much of the 'platforming' bits but unfortunately that was a mistake I made from the start, and... well, as a first project, many mistakes are made and we need to learn from them and improve, both now when we can and in the future! Thanks for much for pointing it out; from my side I can say that the mechanics are slightly less awkward, some places of movement were removed, and the overall game forward relies almost nothing on such situations!
May I ask you one last thing? Did you find the actual 'puzzle' (regarding the dog) awkward as well? If so, could you explain why? (If spoilers are in order, you can send email to intoadreamgame@gmail.com).
Regardless, thanks so much for all :) for the kind words and honesty.
Filipe
Filipe, thank you for the reply, very great of you to engage this way :)
Glad to hear the movement is being tweaked - just a smoother experience there will make all the difference i feel.
The puzzles themselves work fine, just made awkward due to the movements. The dog puzzle included. No problem with it but again, would seem more 'fluid' with smoother movements.
As I said before, I really look forward to the progress as it comes along and will certainly take an active interest in reporting back!! :)
The overall feel of this game is wonderful.

What a beautiful and intriguing game! I can't to see how the story unfolds!
The art style is simply... captivating and surreal. It was a bit of a slow rendering in my computer, but it didn't affect the gameplay and the storytelling too much. The written dialogue needs a bit fix to stay in tune with the speed of speech, tho.
I'm cheering for the developers of Into A Dream!
Hello! Thank you so much for your comment and for your feedback! :)
Do you mind if I ask you what OS were you running the game in and the specs of your computer (graphics and CPU)? It may be of help to understand the slowness.
The written dialogue slows down a lot when the rendering is slow, as generally it is much faster than the speed of speech.
Did you uncheck the VSync option in the Graphics Settings or didn't change anything? In some Windows computers VSync tends to slow the game a lot.
Once again, thank you SO SO much for testing the game out and taking the time to give some feedback :) I wish you a wonderful week! :)
Okay pardon for my carelessness, I missed the option of using the VSync or not, went back to try without it, and the animation actually ran as smooth as it should be. Still a bit slow when the page turned to load the puzzle/mini-game part, although it sure was much faster than when I forgot to turn off the VSync.
Anyway, perhaps for future reference or something, I loaded it on the largest resolution (
16000xIforgotthenumber :'(() and was using Windows 10 64-bit version (spesific OS build is 17134.1246).No problem whatsoever! :) It's not any kind of carelessness from your behalf! I'm tempted to actually turn the VSync off as default, as it is noticeable to someone who has a monitor needing VSync that they should turn it ON, whereas someone who doesn't need it may feel it is a performance issue, like in your case! :) That's alright, thank you very very much. And, btw, which puzzle/mini-game part? :)
I also added an option on the Graphics Settings that allows for the people to turn the dialogue showing effect OFF for something much simpler, as it is the first place where, with low performance, it's highly noticeable, leading to that issue you talked about, where the voice acting finishes much earlier then the actual dialogue showing :)
No worries about the resolution, you've been a great GREAT help! :D Hope the weekend's going well! :)
Pardon me for the late reply : If I recall, the puzzle/game I mentioned here is the one in Forest Day, the one more advanced type from the previous puzzle of hanging on the vine. It is in the third story or the last, I guess? After meeting Rita, the one with moving chain and "Don't Use" warning board which made my rebellious side cackle
Why my memories is so bad that I almost spoil all the things in that level...And again, I think I missed that there is an option to turn off the dialogue bubble. But, as a non-native English and somewhat having a not-so-good hearing, the written speech is actually a huge help.
No problem whatsoever. I really appreciate your help. I'll see to if I can check to optimize that! Thanks a lot!
And no, there is no option to turn off the dialogue bubble haha :) I just use a fade in effect of the words that may not perform ideally in some computers, so I just coded a more simple fading option (less beautiful, but almost no difference) that can be checked now in the Settings, making the dialogue run smoother in every computer! :)
Thanks! :)
I loved this game and can't wait for the full release. Didnt notice any bugs or anything :)

Thanks! And awesome work there, btw! :)
Really nice game, great particles and lighting, toping it off with an awesome intro music👍😁 although i think the dialoue is a bit too small.
Thanks! :D The dialogue has been already tweaked a bit, with slightly larger font and easier to read. :) Happy tou liked it!
Finally got to play the demo... something tells me things are going to get a lot darker quick. Had some issues in the platforming parts but overall things were okey.
Hello! Thank you so much! :D And I glad you enjoyed it. As for the platforming parts, from what I saw, mainly the chain right? That has been 'fixed', or at least is now much easier to move across, as a lot of people had issues there. :) Thanks for your feedback.
Yeah, the chains were a little tricky... but passable. Do you have a release date for IAD? :)
Good! So now it should be a little better :) I don't officially, should come out this or next week! :)
A wonderful game with rich voice acting,a great sound track and a brilliant art style. The game was an absolute pleasure to play one of the main annoyances with the game was the chain swing even if you are holding right it went left , could just be me but it made for a slightly annoying task.
All in all a really good game with deep and meaningful story line , the game leaves you wanting to know more it will be interesting to see what other stories are told when the game is developed more.
Hello! :)
First of all many thanks for testing the game out! And I'm really glad you enjoyed it! As for the remark you made, it's dully noted! Actually, I have already made some changes to the game based on feedback received from the demo, and I made the 'chain' task easier to go through and will polish that mechanic for the final release!
Thank you so much for the feedback! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

good
Thank you! :) And I see you actually ran into a problem! It sometimes happen when skipping some lines in dialogue (it probably won't be allowed in the final game per default). After talking to the man, you should've been able to enter the house, and there's still a whole level you could play (Also accessible through level selection). :)
